Exploding Rabbit developers, the makers of the amazingly fun flash game Super Mario Bros. Crossover into something more worthwhile, if you are not aware of the Mario crossover game, check the link at bottom of the article. In essence it’s set in the Super Mario world from the good old NES. However this is where the crossover part comes in, you may choose from a vast array of big Nintendo characters, ranging from Mega Man to Samus.
Well then this is fantastic, the game they made is amazingly fun, and they want to make a new game, what’s the problem? Well all the characters, levels and music are copyrighted material, in which Exploding Rabbit do not have rights to use.
Their solution is essentially redesign the characters of the game, however each character is a parody of the characters used in Super Mario Bros. Crossover with the core gameplay staying the same. This game shapes up to be a must play for any retro or current gamer, with the ability to switch between 8 and 16bit gameplay and music, there is only one little issue with this, money.
Time taken to create the characters, composing original music and redesigning the levels, this is going to take time and money, especially that Exploding Rabbit is predominantly a one person team. However with the rise of Kick-starter that saw Double Fine reach millions for a point and click adventure game, Exploding Rabbit have decided to open up a Kick-starter page and are asking for donations to get this game into development. With a respectable goal of $10,000, and with 24 days to go as of writing this article they have surpassed their goal, Congratulations
