Microsoft may be about to announce a joint venture with book store Barnes & Noble at its mystery event in Los Angeles tomorrow (mon).
On Friday invitations were sent out to an event at 3.30pm PST but details of the event, and even the exact venue were not revealed.
However sources say that it is to announce a partnership between Microsoft and Barnes & Noble to announce a new tablet with XBox Live streaming.
Microsoft invested $300 million in Barnes & Noble in April to form a new company called Newco so the idea that they could join forces to launch a new tablet does not seem too far fetched and, in fact, some commentators say it would make perfect sense for them to do so.
TechCrunch said: “We’re being told that a tablet/e-reader built in conjunction with Barnes & Noble is on tap and that it will be entertainment driven.
“Another source says the tablet may be the first non-Xbox device to gain Xbox Live streaming capabilities, which might explain the location of the event.
“Other than the time of the event – 3:30 PM local – Microsoft has yet to announce the venue and will apparently do so tomorrow at 10AM local.”
